TAFCOM
TAFCOM (Tanzanian Organization Facilitating Community Development Projects) is a community-based organization working in Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro region since 2005. TAFCOM supports children, women, and families through community development programs focused on education, health, women empowerment, and poverty alleviation.
TAFCOM’s projects are designed to meet real needs identified by local communities and are carried out with the involvement of families and village leaders. These projects focus on building practical skills, improving health and access to resources, and creating income opportunities for women.
TAFCOM’s Key Projects Include:

Women’s Tailoring Group: Vocational training that provides women with sewing skills they can use to earn income and support their families

Microloan Program: Small loans that help women start or expand small businesses and improve household stability

Reusable Sanitary Pads Project: Production and distribution of reusable sanitary pads to support girls’ education, dignity, and health

Education & Community Support Programs: Efforts that improve access to education, health education, and basic services
Friends-Together is proud to partner with TAFCOM and actively participates in several of these projects, including the Microloan Program and the Reusable Sanitary Pads Project. Through this partnership, we support practical, community-led work that strengthens families and creates lasting opportunity.

ZARA Charity
ZARA Charity plays a vital role in enhancing community economic development by supporting vulnerable groups within the community. These include orphans, Maasai women, and low-income individuals such as porters who climb Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
The organization supports these groups through a variety of community-based projects, including:

Friends of Hope Uganda
Friends Together met Bernard in 2004 while visiting Tanzania, Africa for the first time. Immediately, Bernard became family and has been a true supporter along the way. Bernard has volunteered with Friends-Together on all three relief trips; most recently, the relief trip to Tanzania in July, 2015.
Friends Of Hope -Uganda is a non-partisan, non-profit organization comprised of dedicated professionals with diverse experience in their areas of specialty, who, having identified gaps that lie amidst their communities, conceptualized the problem as Friends to play a part in the spiritual, social and economic transformation of society by sharing their skills and expertise with society through emphasis on transformation by touching the most vulnerable sector: including orphaned children, children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, disabled children, homeless children and other vulnerable institutions.
Bernard’s most recent undertaking is developing the first computer lab for his students in order to better prepare them for emerging technologies and better jobs.
The cost associated with sponsoring a student for a year is $290. This includes: room and board, clothes, school tuition, and meals.
