Friends-Together is excited to announce that we are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, “The Roof of Africa”, in late August and early September. We would love to have each of you involved in this event. It’s a once in a lifetime chance to see a remote part of the world and change the lives of children and families in the United States and Africa, forever.
Here are the logistics.
Each
participant is required to raise a minimum of $5,000.00 in donations/pledges and
pay their own expenses. The climb itself costs $1,000.00. That includes local
ground transportation; lodging the day we arrive, during the climb and night the
climb has finished; and meals on the mountain. It does not include hiking
equipment or tips. A two day photo-safari may be added for an additional $250.
Each participant is responsible for their own airfare. Northwest/KLM Airlines and Lufthansa fly directly to our location. Some people will be using airline miles, while others will be purchasing their tickets.
Where does the money go?
The donations will be divided as follows- 50% of all donations will go to Friends-Together; 10% of all donations will go to The River Fund, Uganda AIDS orphanage and 40% of the funds will be donated to the AIDS charity of the climber’s choice.
