Cathy Robinson Pickett is a positive role model for children
and adults.

A Polk County woman is truly making a difference in her
community. She has a motto "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade."
That sums up why she is working everday to help fight a deadly disease.
Cathy Robinson Pickett is getting out the word about HIV and AIDS and her
personal crusade is why she's our Bay News 9 Extra on Everyday
Heroes. Cathy contracted HIV when she was sexually assaulted
years ago. She took that experience and her experience of being a teacher
to spread the important message of AIDS prevention. Cathy created Friends
Together, Inc. To learn more about the volunteer organization and how you
can help go to http://www.friendstogether.org/ .
